Cooter’s 3rd Annual Hazzard Run Convoy of Dukes of Hazzard
General Lee’s Heads from Music City to Great Smoky Mountains
On Saturday, October 1, a convoy of orange 1969 Dodge Chargers along with other vehicles from “Hazzard County” will make their way from Cooter’s Place in Nashville to Cooter’s Place in Gatlinburg for the 3rd Annual Hazzard Run. Beginning at 3:00pm on Saturday, the convoy will parade on the Parkway in downtown Gatlinburg Afterward the cars will be showcased at Cooter’s Place in Gatlinburg for the remainder of the weekend.
Actor Ben “Cooter” Jones and actor Rick “Cletus” Hurst will be available to sign autographs and greet Dukes of Hazzard fans after the parade at Cooter’s Place in Gatlinburg as well as on Sunday, October 2 at the same location.
Live entertainment on Saturday features bluegrass band New Mountain Grass from 4:30pm until 6:30pm. On Sunday, October 2 The Holloway Sisters & Outta The Blue will perform from 10:00am until 12:00pm.
“The General Lee is the most famous car on the planet,” says Ben “Cooter” Jones, “and there are hundreds of them throughout America. I love getting together with the car owners to cruise along some of our country’s beautiful roads. We have a ball and really turn some heads!”
Cooter’s Place in the Smokies is owned by Ben Jones and his wife, Alma Viator. After starring as “Cooter”, Jones served two terms in the United States Congress. He now lives in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. The couple also own Cooter’s Place in Nashville. Both attractions are filled with memorabilia from the ever-popular TV series The Dukes of Hazzard.
