New Lounge Coming to Deer Ridge!

Wednesday, March 26th, 2014

We’ve got some news at Deer Ridge. As a way to help guests truly feel at home here in our little mountain community in Cobbly Knob, we are converting our former game room into a mountain lounge that all registered Deer Ridge guests may use at their leisure.

Out new lounge area will include easy access to the indoor pool area (it’s literally just feet away), enough room for friends and groups to meet for refreshments and a meeting, comfortable chairs (obviously), and a fireplace for colder season nights and pure atmospheric joy. Your comfort will be our #1 priority at Deer Ridge, same as it always has been!

This exciting new addition to the Deer Ridge Clubhouse area will be open for use at the end of April and ready for a Summer of welcoming our friends and their families to the Smokies. A good place to sit and observe in the warmer months, and a good place to meet around the fire in the Winter months, just another thing we offer at Deer Ridge to make sure your vacation is awesome no matter what season you come to visit! www.deerridge.com.

A Mountain Quiltfest and Festival of the Nations 2014

Wednesday, March 19th, 2014

If this doesn’t inspire a plan to visit the Smokies soon, nothing will.

This weekend, March 22nd, Dollywood is opening again for the 2014 season and opening with perennial favorite “Festival Of The Nations”. This year the headlining act is “Mother Africa”, at the main theater on park, while many newer performers play at venues throughout alongside returning favorites like Zambia Vocal Group and Atahualpa coming back again.

Friday is also the unveiling for the new FireChaser Express rollercoaster ride as well. How in the world do you beat a huge multi-national festival with a new rollercoaster alongside everything else Dollywood offers?

By making it a vacation package with Deer Ridge.

Won’t spoil the surprise here, see more on our Dollywood vacation package at http://www.deerridge.com/dollywood_package.html.

Progress on Rocky Top Sports World

Wednesday, March 12th, 2014

Like much of the immediate area near Gatlinburg and Cosby, we’re watching with great anticipation at the construction of Rocky Top Sports World near Gatlinburg Pittman High School. These are some new pictures of the construction site.

Rocky Top Sports is going to be awesome, and whether you hope to come to the Smokies for either Rocky Top or Deer Ridge, you’ll find the two go together hand-in-hand quite well. Our condos and cabins will be within easy driving distance to the sports complex and countless new entertainment possibilities will open up for our guests.

We’ll keep updating as progress continues. We have a wonderful Spring on the way and you’ll want to check out our vacation packages for Dollywood, the Ripley’s Aquarium, hiking, horse riding and more activities perfect for the coming season at www.deerridge.com!

Tuesday, January 7th, 2014

There’s a really good reason why the Rocky Top Sports World is something the county is really looking forward to – it will be one of the largest sports venues in the Tennessee Smokies and bring a lot of traffic to a side of Gatlinburg that doesn’t see as much commercial action.

Gatlinburg is probably not a city that first comes to mind in thinking about baseball games, karate tournaments and wall-climbing, but with so many other special events that come here regularly each year, and our own personal pride in the Gatlinburg Pittman High School sports teams, that will soon change. Not only will this facility bring a lot of extra income to businesses on Highway 321 and usher in more growth, it will provide locals with new events to look forward to without having to drive too far.

The Rocky Top Sports World is expecting to be a major professional sports venue, 80 acres and 86,000 square feet of indoor space, featuring:

* 7 outdoor turf fields.
* 10 hardwood basketball courts.
* Rock climbing wall.
* Full service Indoor/outdoor cafe.
* Banquet Room
* Equipment and accommodations for football, baseball, basketball, soccer, la crosse, martial arts, volleyball, wrestling and more.

The only problem that exists currently for visitors and athletes coming to the Smokies for Rocky Top Sports World is quick, efficient, and high quality lodging nearby. This is where Deer Ridge comes in! Our main resort is just 15 minutes away from Rocky Top and we offer everything a sports team or sports enthusiast group would ever want in a trip to the Smokies, including:

* Condominiums for 1-2 bedrooms plus lofts in some units. Vacation cabins also available.
* Luxury furniture and unique furnishings in all units.
* Fully stocked kitchens for all cooking needs.
* Private balconies overlooking the Smoky Mountains.
* Secluded and genuinely quiet location, again, overlooking the Smoky Mountains.
* Regular specials during seasons.
* Seasonal special events onsite like Sunset Festival in October and our New Years Eve party.
* Huge 27% military discount on all our accommodations.
* Vacation packages for Dollywood, Dixie Stampede, Scavenger Hike Adventures, Bent Creek Golf, Horseback riding and more.

And our onsite amenities include:

* Onsite swimming pool.
* Onsite sauna and hot tub.
* Huge sundeck overlooking miles of Smoky Mountains.
* Picnic tables and onsite basketball and tennis courts.
* $1 video rentals from main office.
* Game room inside main office.
* Playground for smaller children.
* Onsite laundry facility.

Comments:
Fantastic view from the balcony. Very comfortable suite, nicely decorated. Away from the noise and crowded conditions of Gatlinburg, but still close enough to town for trips to the National Park and to the restaurants. Fire place was great on the cool evenings. We didn’t use the pool or game area, so can’t comment on that. We spent much of our time hiking and site seeing.

It’s Not Too Early To Plan For Sunset Festival

Wednesday, July 31st, 2013

What are the three best things you can get from the Smoky Mountains during Autumn?

1. Views of the full Autumn bloom.
2. Awesome bluegrass alongside free food at a special event.
3. A self-sufficient luxury resort with everything you need to get the Smoky Mountain vacation you deserve.

And what luck, Sunset Festival at Deer Ridge provides all three for NO extra cost!

The Sunset Festival is Deer Ridge’s long-running tradition of holding a fun little party every Saturday evening with free food, awesome bluegrass music, and all the views of the full bloom of the Smokies your camera can hold. The night air is crisp and dignified, and it’s an excellent way to unwind and get the true Appalachian experience the mountains provide in this season.

As we have been doing this a while, you can bet Sunset Festival has gotten pretty popular too, so reserve a spot today at www.deerridge.com.
